ABOUT  ME

"Curiosity only does one thing, and that is to give.   And what it gives you are clues on the incredible scavenger hunt of your life."

-Elizabeth Gilbert

As a  Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my job is to help you become curious about what is and isn't working in  your life. When we become curious, we stop judging our self so harshly and start wondering about and noticing processes, habits, movement, our breath, or whatever is in our field of awareness.  Any of these can be a starting place for our work. Through noticing, we begin to have the option to change.  At a young age we developed blueprints about how the world and relationships worked, that became stored outside of our awareness.  Left unnoticed, these patterns have persisted into adulthood and affect the ways we respond to our emotions and how we interact in our intimate relationships.  I create a safe and compassionate space for you to look at issues affecting your quality of life.  My approach to working with clients is strengths based, nurturing and accepting.  I originally studied dance/movement therapy and brings awareness of how the body and mind affect and influence each other.

When working with families I help find ways to  support and nurture each member and get out of painful cycles of shame and blame.  I believe most families are doing the best they can,  but may need  help translating each other's needs, and communicating in a way that can be heard by the others.

I also work with other issues including anxiety, depression, shame, softening the harsh inner critic, grief and loss, and life transitions.   I enjoys working with parents, teens and kids, artists and writers, and individual adults who feel stuck in chaos, or rigid and unfulfilling patterns.

My therapy is  creative and collaborative.  It is influenced by  Attachment theory, Gestalt, mindfulness and yoga, family therapy, neuroscience, and creative arts therapies, among others. I see therapy as a journey client and therapist take together with curiosity about what may unfold. There are theoretical maps that may guide us, but each client is  unique, with individual difficulties and strengths.

I hold an MA in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in dance/movement therapy from JFK University and a BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
